Who Qualifies For The Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are actually open and will close on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a house with a combined gross household earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined household revenue won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and need not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with 2025 nsfas application combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the proper Id Doc numbers, names, nsfas 2025 and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are studying or plan to research in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
